Work Experience Placements at Slated Row School
At Slated Row School, we are committed to supporting young people as they prepare for their future education and career pathways. We recognise the value of meaningful work experience and are pleased to offer a limited number of placements to students who wish to gain experience within our school environment.
Work experience placements provide students with an opportunity to develop their understanding of the education sector, gain insight into working within a specialist school setting, and build valuable skills and confidence for future study or employment.
To ensure that each placement offers a positive, supportive and worthwhile experience, we are able to accommodate one work experience student per half term. This enables staff to provide appropriate guidance, supervision and learning opportunities throughout the placement.
Applying for a Placement
All requests for work experience placements must be submitted in writing to:
Applications should include the following information:
- Full name
- Age
- Current school, college or university
- Reason for requesting a placement
- Preferred placement dates
Providing as much information as possible about your interests, studies and future career aspirations will help us consider your application and determine whether we can offer a suitable placement.
Notice Period
Please note that we are unable to accommodate last-minute requests. A minimum of six weeks’ notice is required for all placement applications. This allows sufficient time for the school to review requests, assess availability, complete any necessary arrangements and ensure that an appropriate placement programme can be planned.
Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is our highest priority. As a specialist school, Slated Row School has robust safeguarding procedures in place, and all work experience placements are subject to these requirements.
Depending on the nature and duration of the placement, students may be required to provide additional information or complete safeguarding documentation before the placement can begin. Work experience students will receive appropriate safeguarding guidance and will be expected to follow the school’s policies and procedures at all times while on site.
Students undertaking placements will always work under the supervision of school staff and must maintain professional standards of conduct, confidentiality and behaviour throughout their time at the school.
Allocation of Placements
As the number of placements available each academic year is limited, submitting an application does not guarantee a placement. All requests will be considered based on availability, suitability and the school’s capacity to provide a meaningful experience during the requested period.
Applicants will be contacted as soon as possible regarding the outcome of their request.
We look forward to supporting students who are interested in learning more about working within a specialist educational setting and helping them gain valuable experience for their future aspirations.
